Billy Porter won his first-ever Emmy this Sunday. An exemplary actor in Drama Series. Making his Emmy win a history, Potter is the first black gay man to grab the Emmy in this category.
Billy in his acceptance speech took us back to 1960s by quoting lines from an essay written by James Baldwin, “They can’t turn back, that, it took many years of vomiting up all the filth I’d been taught about myself, and half-believed, before I was able to walk on the earth as I had a right to be here.”
Billy strongly trusts in walking together with everyone. He also claimed, “I have the right. You have the right. We all have the right.”
He was even nominated for Golden Globe for his ‘Pose’ role, earlier this year. He won Emmy for being an outgoing and expressive father figure, Pray Tell. His character also shows how he struggles with an HIV diagnosis. Pray, in an episode, performs a soul-stirring musical number at an AIDS benefit that wraps every one of his hopes and fears into a single song.
What an amazing and historic win we got to witness!

Billy is an accomplished stage actor, who already has won a Tony and Grammy Award for his work in Broadway’s “Kinky Boots”. His notable awards shelf now just needs an Oscar to achieve the title of EGOT winner.
While receiving the award Potter said, “The category is Love, you all.” He in his speech send a message that “We are the people. We as artists are the people that get to change the molecular structure of the hearts and minds of the people who live on this planet. Please don’t ever stop doing that. Please don’t ever stop telling the truth.”
Such a beautiful way of expressing self and the way a society can improve.
It was definitely a night to remember and marked the pages of history with golden words!
