Boeing is the king of aeronautical engineering; it has made the best planes in the world so far. Porche is an expert in making whizzing beasts and has produced some of the best cars in the world. Hmm… I wonder what would happen if they happen to collaborate?
No need to wonder, people! Yep, its true. Boeing, the plane makers, and Porche, the luxury carmakers, are teaming up. They are reportedly coming together to work on a concept electric vehicle that will be capable of vertical takeoff and landing (VTOL). Well, to put it in simple words, they’re working on a flying car. The design and the car… I mean VTOL car they’ll come up with, will stay true to Porshe’s Brand.
From Porshe’s front, Detlev Von Platen, Member of the Executive Board for Sales and Marketing at Porsche AG, came forward and regarding the project said, “Porsche is looking to enhance its scope as a sports car manufacturer by becoming a leading brand for premium mobility. In the longer term, this could mean moving into the third dimension of travel.” He further added, “We are combining the strengths of two leading global companies to address a potential key market segment of the future.”
From Boeing, Vice President and General Manager Boeing NeXt, Steve Nordlund said, “This collaboration builds on our efforts to develop a safe and efficient new mobility ecosystem, and provides an opportunity to investigate the development of a premium urban air mobility vehicle with a leading automotive brand. Porsche and Boeing together bring precision engineering, style, and innovation to accelerate urban air mobility worldwide.”
The ideas that once only belonged to the science fiction genre and were obviously regarded as far-fetched are now becoming reality one by one. And the scariest part about it, we aren’t even surprised. This idea of a flying car maybe not be so far fetched after all. I mean, its Boeing guys, worlds leading Plane manufacturers and I don’t think I need to say anything about Porche.
