How to Combat Tiredness When Working from Home

If you work from home, you may know the feeling of being sat in front of your laptop screen with tired, heavy eyes. It is so easy to just get up and chill out on the couch for hours or just nip to bed for a quick nap which then turns into a deep sleep. However, it is important that you remain productive, motivated and energized when you are working in your own space because you have so much independence. Here are a few tips to help combat tiredness when working from home.

Eye Strain

Straining your eyes can cause fatigue. Looking at your laptop screen for hours on end can make your eyes feel tired and dry. This is because not only are you focusing on smaller words/images, but you tend to blink less when looking at a bright screen. On the other hand, if you work in a place that is too dimly lit, it again causes your eyes to strain which in turn tires them out.

There are a few ways to prevent this eye strain, by simple things like taking short, regular breaks away from looking at a screen, getting a glare filter for your laptop screen and investing in a humidifier to add moisture to the air which will then add moisture to your dry eyes.

There are a few more steps you can take to try and remedy tired eyes, but if these don’t work then you may need to visit an eye doctor to have an eye exam. It is important to go for an eye exam regularly to check if your eyes are healthy, so check out sites like eyewearhaus where you can book eye exams and browse a wide range of beautiful handcrafted glasses.

Don’t Stress

We understand that not stressing yourself out is so much easier said than done, but it is important to beat that dreaded tiredness throughout the day. Stress uses so much energy in our bodies, so to make sure your energy is used for working instead of stressing, it may be worth practicing some relaxing activities. Try yoga, listening to music or meeting up with friends.

No Caffeine

Caffeine is a stimulant, so it may sound confusing being told that this can make you more tired throughout the day. Caffeine can interfere with your sleep; therefore, it is important to limit your caffeine consumption in the day. Making sure you have good quality sleep every night is so important for your health, so make sure you are taking the correct measures to help yourself get the best sleep for your body. Caffeine can also cause headaches, which again causes the body to feel tired and will distract you from working.

There are so many more tips and tricks you can try that will make you less tired throughout the day, which is important if you work independently in your own space at home. Look after your body, as when you are feeling motivated and rejuvenated, the work you produce will definitely reflect that.
