International model, personal nutritionist, personal coach, natural skin care advisor, dance choreographer and a highly discussed innovator, Omar Al Mohammed, has a natural potency to ace the spectrum of arts and sciences and everything in between. After his success in the world of dance and choreography, he is now making a mark for his contribution in the world of technology.
Rewind
Omar Al Mohammed was born in Riffa, Bahrain. However, his birth was unlike many others. Omar first turned the heads around when he failed to cry for 3 days after his birth. It was only after being slapped by the nurse that he responded and cried like any other infant. At the age of 3, he slipped from a height and his tongue was fully cut, horizontally, due to the fall. Omar has had speaking difficulties since then, it usually goes unnoticed. He proved his extraordinary personality by completing A levels at age 15 and shone brighter thereafter with his Bachelor’s and Master’s degree. To his achievements, he became the youngest MBA degree holder at the age of 19!
Discovering Passions
For his passion of dancing, Omar pursued dancing for a long period of time. For over a year, he continued giving 18 blockbuster performances at England’s famous clubs As a humanitarian individual, he contributed a majority portion of his earnings for charity in Oxfam. A few months later, he accepted the offer of an assistant choreographer for a few music videos out of which he made further substantial contributions for Oxfam.
On account of unfavourable traveling routine as a cabin crew member at Gulf Air, he quit his job and returned to his home country. Following the closure of the Aircraft Engineering Program, 2014 proved to be a year of a setback for Omar. However, this setback didn’t stop Omar from moving forward. Soon after that, he got employed with a semi-government organization where he still continues to work. At the same time, he has been trying his hand at modeling, owing to his popularity on Instagram. He recently completed his shoots for leading regional banks in the Gulf region.
Global Dreams
His curiosity and grit led him to indulge his passion for technology. As a result of using navigation constantly, the option of using voice for directions stirred the idea of how things could be controlled with voice commands and an internet connection. In less than a year, Omar set up voice control on a robot vacuum cleaner which could be controlled from his smartphone. The success of this project gave a start to his smart home project – Ghafarado’s: The Pad. To give his dream a platform, he bought an apartment in the most prestigious area of New Juffair in Manama.
Omar’s voice-controlled smart home boasts dynamic features such as voice-activated curtains, Wi-Fi screen refrigerator, Wi-Fi cook-top, Smart coffee maker, Wi-Fi oven, and a robot vacuum cleaner. His ambitious project has attracted eyeballs from all over the world, putting Bahrain on the map.
For his contribution to Bahrain, his work has been featured in the leading newspapers like Gulf Daily News, Al Watan News, Alayam News, The Daily Tribune, a property magazine – Arabian Homes, and a business magazine – Biz Bahrain. Omar Al Mohammed’s journey has been extraordinary and thereby truly inspirational.
