Netflix will no longer support older Roku players

If you’re still using that old and maybe a little banged up Roku Player to stream Netflix, then we might have a problem here. Coz you will need to upgrade as you will not be able to stream Netflix on it anymore. Netflix announced that it would be ending its support for Roku’s older player. This will take effect after the 1st of December. The players include Roku HD, HD-XR, SD, XD, and XDS while the list also includes Netgear’s XD and XDS.

Roku confirmed the announcement by Netflix saying “due to technical limitations, Netflix will no longer be available on select older Roku players after the 1st of December, 2019. These devices include models Roku 2050X, Roku 2100X, Roku 2000C, Roku HD Player, Roku SD Player, Roku XR Player, and Roku SD Player.”

Now how will you know if you are on an older module and will be losing your Netflix access? Well, If your Netflix does not support autoplay to watch the next episode in the series, you will probably gonna lose the access, or you should receive a pop-up warning when you watch Netflix on your Roku. Though if the pre-mentioned issues occur then your Roku will lose Netflix support but do not rest assured if they don’t like the full list of devices to lose Netflix is not known yet.

Well, Roku has been trying its older version users to buy a new one for quite some time now, so this was not a shock. Roku warned in 2015 that it would be stopping the updates for the players made in May of 2011 or earlier.

Well if you are still using an antique box to stream Netflix, you will have to upgrade. However, the odds are you’re not because the new versions of Roku start at just $30 or you might own a console or a TV that comes with Netflix pre-loaded. Right… Guys…right?
