There will be no loot boxes in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare, Activision confirms

Gamers have long criticized the in-game loot boxes in Call of Duty. So the developer, Activision, thought that removing the loot boxes for good from the game would be a good choice. They confirmed that the game, Call Of Duty: Modern Warfare, will not have any loot boxes. Activision also confirmed that there would be a battle pass system like that in Fortnite.

Activision confirmed the in-game economy through an open letter to the players saying:

“We are introducing a new Battle Pass system, not a loot box system. All functional content that has an impact on game balance, such as base weapons and attachments, can be unlocked simply by playing the game. The new Battle Pass system will allow players to see the content that they are earning or buying. Battle Passes will launch timed to new, post-launch live seasons, so you can unlock cool new Modern Warfare-themed content that matches each season.”

The pass will be available in a free version as well as a premium paid version. The basic version of the weapons will be rewarded to the players by simply playing the game as well be the attachments and weapon mod. The game would also reward players in COD points, which can be used by the players to get cosmetic upgrades. NO reward will give any player any kind of advantage.

The developers also confirmed the following features.

  • Crossplay to unite the community across platforms for the first time.
  • Removing Season Pass and a la carte DLC multiplayer map packs to ensure everyone can play together.
  • Delivering free post-launch multiplayer maps and modes for all players.
  • Releasing post-launch multiplayer maps and modes simultaneously on all platforms.

With these bold new decisions, Activision has made headline but will it be able to provide the gamer what they want. The game will be released on the 25th of October.
