SAN FRANCISCO, United States — Financial technology company Collective has announced $100 million in new financing to expand its artificial intelligence-powered financial operating system for self-employed professionals and one-person businesses. The financing, announced on October 29, 2026, combines a $40 million Series B investment with a separate $60 million customer-acquisition facility. The company plans to use the resources to strengthen its accounting, tax, payroll, banking, and insurance services as independent entrepreneurs seek more integrated ways to manage their finances.
Collective Combines Equity Funding With Growth Financing
The $40 million Series B round was led by General Catalyst, QED Investors, and Gradient Ventures, with participation from Intuit Ventures, FT Partners, and SemperVirens. The additional $60 million facility comes from General Catalyst’s Customer Value Fund and is intended to support customer acquisition. The distinction matters because the full $100 million package is not exclusively an equity investment.
Collective said the financing will help accelerate product development and expand its services for entrepreneurs who operate without traditional finance departments. The company is targeting businesses whose owners manage sales, operations, accounting, and financial planning themselves. By bringing these activities into one platform, Collective aims to reduce the administrative burden associated with running an independent business.
AI Platform Automates Financial Administration
Collective’s platform provides services involving business formation, bookkeeping, invoicing, payroll, tax preparation, and financial administration. Its approach combines software automation with financial infrastructure and human support, allowing routine processes to be handled with less manual coordination. The company is also developing additional capabilities involving banking and insurance.
For solo entrepreneurs, financial administration can consume time that would otherwise be spent serving customers or developing products. Different tools may be required for invoicing, tax filings, payroll, and business accounts, creating fragmented workflows. Collective’s strategy is to connect these functions so that information can move between services with fewer repetitive tasks.
Company Reports Strong Revenue Growth
Collective reported annual recurring revenue growth of 120% year over year and said its platform has helped customers achieve an estimated $350 million in cumulative tax savings. The company also reported that AI-powered support handles approximately half of customer support requests autonomously. These are company-reported performance figures and should not be treated as independently audited outcomes for every customer.
The company sees a substantial market among America’s millions of solo businesses, particularly as AI tools allow individuals to operate businesses that previously required larger teams. However, demand for financial automation does not eliminate the need for professional oversight, especially when decisions involve tax compliance, business structures, or financial obligations.
Fintech Firms Target the One-Person Business Economy
Collective’s funding reflects investor interest in platforms designed specifically for self-employed professionals. Traditional financial software often assumes that a business has dedicated accounting or administrative staff, while solo operators need simpler services that can perform multiple functions. AI-assisted workflows may help bridge that gap when implemented with reliable controls and appropriate professional support.
The company’s expansion will depend on customer retention, the quality of its financial services, and its ability to manage sensitive business information securely. The financing provides additional resources to develop an integrated platform as the number and complexity of independent businesses continue to grow.
