After China confirmed that it is dealing with a total of 1,372 cases of coronavirus nationally, so far, 39 have been discharged.
The number of those affected internationally has surpassed 1,400, but the death toll remains at 41.
Meanwhile, France announced that three people had fallen ill with the virus – the disease’s first appearance in Europe. And the United States reported its second case, involving a Chicago woman in her 60s who was hospitalized in isolation after returning from China.
Now, five people suspected of having coronavirus in Scotland have tested negative, the Scottish government has said.
Five patients were confirmed as being tested for the infection, and ministers have now announced they have been given the all-clear.
The Health Protection Scotland has urged travelers returning from Wuhan who becomes unwell within a fortnight from a sore throat, cough or breathing difficulties to call their GP or NHS 24.
Scotland’s chief medical officer, Catherine Calderwood, said on Friday:
“Scotland is well prepared for these types of outbreaks – we have a proven track record of dealing with challenging health issues, and the UK was one of the first countries in the world to develop a test for the new virus.”
“I am being kept fully informed about the precautionary steps being taken, including timely updates on the patients who are currently being tested.”
Japan, Taiwan, Thailand, Vietnam, Singapore, Macao, Hong Kong, France, and the United States all have people infected with the new virus. Media outlets also reported that Nepal has a confirmed case.
